Baresana grape
Baresana grape: glassy, thin-skinned table grapes from the Bari area
An old table grape from around Bari, now hanging on in a handful of rows in and near Adelfia. Its white-gold berries have a paper-thin, almost see-through skin over crisp, sweet, fruity flesh. Picking is done by hand from September to mid-October.
- It is ripe when you can see the seeds through the berry
- Crunchy flesh with a sweet, intensely fruity taste
- A Slow Food Presidium and a traditional agri-food product (PAT)
How to enjoy it. Eat it fresh, straight from the bunch, during the autumn weeks of the harvest. That delicate skin does not travel or store well, so enjoy it soon.
