Lametia (extra virgin olive oil)
Lametia PDO extra virgin olive oil: near single-variety Carolea from Lamezia
At least nine-tenths of every grove is Carolea, which makes Lametia practically a single-variety oil, grown in the Catanzaro municipalities around Lamezia. Olives come off the tree once they start to turn, and never after 15 January. It has been a PDO since 1999.
- Green to straw yellow, light fruit on the nose and a delicate taste
- Acidity no higher than 0.5 g per 100 g, with 170 ppm or more of polyphenols
- Name, PDO wording and vintage on the label, plus a traceable guarantee seal
How to enjoy it. Balanced and gentle, it works as both dressing and ingredient across a wide range of Italian dishes. Keep it in the dark at 14-18 °C and use it within four to six months, while the fruit is at its liveliest.
