La Bella della Daunia
La Bella della Daunia PDO: big, fleshy table olives from the Cerignola plain
This is a table olive with real presence: elongated like a small plum and weighing up to about thirty grams. It comes from the Bella di Cerignola variety on the flat farmland of ancient Daunia, where it is picked by hand from October and processed as soon as it arrives. Green, black or turning colour, each style has its own character.
- Large and generously fleshed, firm enough to keep its shape in the jar and on the plate
- Green means crisp and savoury, black softer and gentle, the turning type ranges from mustard to brown
- PDO jars state the style on the label: Verde, Cangiante or Nera
How to enjoy it. No cooking needed: serve them straight from the jar with a drink before dinner. Whole, crushed, slit or pitted, they also work in starters and side dishes.
