Torrone di Ospedaletto d'Alpinolo
Torrone di Ospedaletto d'Alpinolo: the Christmas nougat of Partenio pilgrims
In the Irpinian village where the pilgrimage to Montevergine begins, the homemade torrone named after the town is the gift of the Christmas season. In the classic recipe, toasted hazelnuts or almonds are bound with honey and egg white; a second version encloses sponge cake. It is listed as a traditional agri-food product (PAT) of Campania.
- Both versions are wrapped in a chocolate glaze
- Toasted nuts at the heart of the classic recipe
- Tied to Christmas and to the pilgrim road up to Montevergine
How to enjoy it. A sweet for the holidays: bring it out at Christmas, as Ospedaletto does, and slice it to share at the end of the meal.
