Terre di Cosenza
Terre di Cosenza DOC: Magliocco reds and Greco whites from one province
One appellation covers the whole province of Cosenza, created in 2014 to bring together vineyards from the Pollino to the Savuto valley, with seven subzones that keep their traditional blends. Reds rest on Magliocco; whites on Greco bianco, Guarnaccia bianca, Pecorello or Montonico, with low yields and native grapes at the centre.
- Ruby reds recalling berries, acacia blossom and candied citrus, savoury and long
- Straw-yellow whites, sometimes green-tinged, floral on the nose, soft and fresh
- Riserva ages at least 24 months; the Vigna mention sits at the top of the range
How to enjoy it. Choose by style and subzone: the white for freshness, the red for its savoury depth. After the meal come the passiti, the white with citrus and pastry notes, the red with dried fig and almond.
