Greco di Tufo
Greco di Tufo DOCG, a mineral white from the old sulphur hills of Irpinia
Eight villages around Tufo, in the province of Avellino, on hills marked by old sulphur mines: this is where Greco grapes, at least 85% of the blend, are picked in October and fermented in steel. Dry, fresh and savoury, it also comes as a bottle-fermented sparkling wine aged at least 18 months on the lees.
- Peach, apricot, melon, citrus and almond on the nose, over a clear mineral streak
- Dry, fresh and savoury in the mouth, with a long almond and citrus finish
- Built to last: five to ten years of life for the standard wine, over ten to twelve for the Riserva
How to enjoy it. Serve at 8-10 °C with fish soup, seafood risotto or salt cod, even in tomato sauce; the sparkling version is an aperitif for raw dishes from sea or land.
