Aglianico del Vulture: pure Aglianico from the slopes of an old volcano

Made only from Aglianico grapes, grown on the clay- and mineral-rich soils around Monte Vulture, an extinct volcano. The DOC covers a red and a bottle-fermented sparkling red; the DOCG Superiore, Riserva included, comes from fifteen towns and spends long periods in wood and bottle.

• DOC red in deep ruby: minerality, blackberry, redcurrant, juniper, tobacco and spice
• Full in the mouth, its tannins velvety, its finish long
• The Superiore is released from its third year at the earliest, the Riserva from its fifth

How to enjoy it. Open the DOC for a full, spicy red; reach for the Superiore or Riserva when you want more elegance and balsamic depth.
